Modules & Lessons
How courses are organized, and how module locking works when it's turned on.
Structure
Every course is organized into modules, and each module contains one or more lessons. A lesson can be a video, a written article, a PDF, an audio file, or a quiz.
Module locking (some courses)
Some courses unlock modules one at a time as you make progress, instead of giving you everything at once. If a course works this way, you'll see a lock icon and "Requires Level N" on modules you haven't reached yet.
To unlock the next module, you generally need to, for whatever that module actually contains:
- Mark all of its lessons complete
- Pass any quiz attached to it
- Submit any assignment attached to it
- Post in the course community, if the instructor has turned that requirement on for that module
Not every course locks modules
This is an option each instructor can turn on or off per course — many courses simply give you full access to every module right away.
